FAQ

An ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) projector screen is designed to enhance image quality in bright rooms. It works by rejecting ambient light from surrounding sources, such as windows and lights while reflecting the projector's light directly back to the viewer. This type of screen is particularly ideal for laser projector screens and big projector screens.

Notably, our Cinematic and Daylight screens are ALR screens designed exclusively for ultra-short-throw projectors, unlike matte white screens that are suitable for long throw, short throw, and ultra short throw projectors.

ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) technology selectively reflects the projector's light toward the audience while absorbing or diffusing unwanted ambient light from other sources. This maintains image clarity and color accuracy in various lighting conditions, making it perfect for any screen for projector setups or projection TV screen configurations.

AWOL Vision offers three main types of projector screens: Cinematic, Daylight, and Matte White.

●Cinematic Screens: These are ALR screens ideal for ultra short throw projectors. The wall-mounted version has a gain of 0.6dB and is made from eco-friendly BlackGrid TPU HBSP material, while the floor-rising variant has a gain of 0.8dB and is composed of HBSI TPU material.
●Daylight Screens: Also ALR screens, designed exclusively for wall-mounted setups, featuring a gain of 1.1dB and constructed with Fresnel PET, optimized for environments with varying light conditions.
●Matte White Screens: These screens, suitable for all types of projectors (long, short, and ultra-short throw), are not ALR and offer a gain of 1.3dB, made from durable PVC material. Versatile and accommodating, these screens provide an expansive projector screen size, enhancing any screen projector setup.
Absolutely. A high-quality projector screen significantly enhances the overall viewing experience by improving brightness, color accuracy, and contrast compared to projecting directly onto a plain wall. This difference is crucial for achieving cinema-quality visuals in home or commercial settings. This is particularly evident with projection TV screens or big projector screens, crucial for cinema-quality visuals in both home and commercial settings.

Choosing between Cinematic and Daylight projector screens depends on your environment and viewing needs.

1. The Cinematic screen rejects the overhead light. It is for dimly lit environments like living rooms or bedrooms without strong side lighting. It provides a broader viewing angle of approximately 160 degrees.

2. Opt for the Daylight screen to block light from all directions, ideal for any time of day with a narrower 90-degree viewing angle. It’s particularly effective for projection TV screens in brightly lit rooms.

Both screens are effective at light rejection, but the Daylight screen provides more versatile light blocking.

AWOL Vision's Daylight ALR projector screen distinguishes itself with its Fresnel PET material. It can capture 85% of ambient light, enhancing contrast and clarity in any lighting. Ideal for daylight use, this screen delivers vibrant visuals free from glares and washouts, perfect for projector screen TV settings, even in brightly lit rooms or during daytime viewing.
Yes, all AWOL Vision projector screens can effectively display 3D content. They enhance depth and detail when used with compatible 3D projectors, providing an immersive home theater experience, particularly with a TV projector screen known for its superior visual impact.
Yes, ALR projection screens help reduce eye strain by enhancing image contrast and clarity while minimizing glare from ambient light. This results in a more comfortable projector-screen TV viewing experience, especially during extended viewing sessions.
Although projecting onto a white wall is possible, using an ALR projector screen is crucial for Ultra Short Throw (UST) projectors to maximize image quality. It reduces ambient light washout, boosts contrast and brightness, and eliminates wavy patterns from uneven surfaces, enhancing picture quality by up to 80%. This is especially beneficial for projection screen TV settings.
