Is the Aetherion Max just a Valerion VisionMaster with a different lens?
No, it’s not a lens swap.
Aetherion Max is a full generation upgrade, built on AWOL Vision’s four years of hands-on experience in UST projector development and customer service. It runs on a new technical foundation, including: 1. Upgraded SoC and advanced DMD controller; 2. Improved WiFi and Bluetooth; 3. Redesigned optical engine and lens system; 4. Native Google TV 14.0.
More importantly, it brings together real user feedback and home theater insights from the VisionMaster series: 1. Zero light leakage from the lens; 2. Optimized 3D resolution; 3. Reduced rainbow effect (RBE), making viewing more comfortable over time.
So this isn’t just a lens change. It’s a system-level evolution across both hardware and viewing experience.
What are the current issues with the EBL algorithm, and when will they be resolved?
EBL was first introduced in late 2022 with our first-generation UST projectors. It was improved in 2024 for the Valerion VisionMaster series based on user feedback.
In Aetherion, we optimized the algorithm to fix issues reported by VisionMaster users, including: 1. Color shifts; 2.“Breathing effect” (sudden fluctuations in image brightness).
This update introduced a new limitation: Some details may appear clipped in high-contrast scenes. Our team is working closely with Texas Instruments and SoC partners to improve the driver software. A firmware update is planned by the end of March.
Why is the RBE Reduction feature only available in the "Warm 1" color temperature mode?
In 2025, we first introduced RBE Reduction in the Valerion series, which was highly praised by home theater users. Many requested the feature for 3D content as well.
For Aetherion, our team enabled RBE Reduction for both 2D and 3D. However, this requires configuring the DMD controller using its limited internal memory. Each image mode, laser level, color temperature, IRIS setting, and 2D/3D combination uses part of that memory.
Currently, the DMD memory cannot store RBE Reduction on/off parameters for every combination. To ensure the feature works in both 2D and 3D, it is available only in the "Warm 1" color temperature mode. Users who prefer to disable it can switch to any other color temperature.
What are the primary causes of dead pixels in projectors, and how have they been mitigated in the Aetherion?
Dead pixels in DLP projectors are mainly caused by two technical constraints: thermal resistance limits and high spectral power density of the DMD micromirrors.
Based on four years of customer service data and engineering insights from AWOL Vision’s first-generation UST products, Aetherion features a fully redesigned internal architecture.
We optimized the thermal management of the DMD chip and adjusted the spectral power distribution across the RGB light source and optical path.
Our reliability tests show clear improvements over the previous generation. Real-world long-term performance will continue to be validated through ongoing user feedback.
What is the "warping" issue with UST floor-standing screens, and how can it be resolved?
The main challenge with floor-standing screens is keeping them perfectly flat. Even small unevenness can be noticeable with an ultra-short-throw projector. The issue mainly comes from: 1. Differences in thermal expansion and contraction rates of the screen materials; 2.Impacts during transportation and handling.
From our years of customer service experience, we take the following steps to address it: 1. Each Aetherion screen includes extra carbon fiber strips for minor user adjustments; 2. We continue to monitor new technologies to improve flatness across the industry.
Warping is a known issue in UST floor-standing ALR screens, but these measures help minimize it while giving users some control.
How will the projector's fan noise issue be addressed?
The fan noise comes from unoptimized software logic, which can cause a sudden spike about 7 minutes after power-on. The projector has 6 fan speed levels, and we are refining the stepped logic for speed changes. Our goal is to match the noise level of our previous-generation LTV products. We are working to fix this as soon as possible.
How will the laser speckle issue be addressed?
Laser speckle is an inherent characteristic of Pure RGB Laser technology. Compared to non-pure lasers, its performance may be less optimal.
We are addressing it with short-term and long-term measures:
Short-term: 1. Adding de-speckle optical components in the projector; 2. Offering specialized screens like Valerion’s Zero-Speckle Screen.
Long-term: 1. Collaborating with laser diode suppliers to optimize the Blue, Green, and Red spectra; 2. Expecting prototype lasers with these improvements by late 2026.
AWOL Vision will maintain the superior color performance of Pure RGB Laser technology while working with industry partners to continuously reduce speckle.
